466,000 seniors on DSWD social pension program waitlist

MANILA, Philippines — Senator Imee Marcos mentioned the variety of senior residents waitlisted for the Division of Social Welfare and Improvement’s (DSWD) social pension program is now at round 466,000. 

“Dati ay 228,000 ang waitlisted. Ngayon 466,000 na. Lumolobo nga eh. Dumadami,” Marcos, sponsor of DSWD’s 2024 price range, disclosed throughout the Senate’s Thursday plenary debates on the nationwide price range.

DSWD’s social pension program for indigent senior residents is an extra authorities help mandated by the Expanded Senior Residents Act of 2022. 

Below the measure, indigent senior residents are entitled to a month-to-month allowance of P500.

In line with the senator, from P25 billion, the appropriations for this system has doubled to P50 billion subsequent 12 months.
